V2G-Sim - A new model to predict grid impacts and opportunities for deploying EVs

posted Nov 1, 2013, 6:46 PM by Samveg Saxena
Electric vehicles are widely recognized as a promising technology for reducing energy use, oil consumption and emissions from vehicle transportation, however significant concerns exist about the stress that charging of new plug-in vehicles (PEVs) will place on the electricity grid. A new project by Dr. Saxena was recently funded to build a simulation model that can predict the grid impacts and opportunities for integrating large numbers of PEVs on the electricity grid. The model is called the Vehicle-to-Grid Simulator, or V2G-Sim. Stay tuned for updates, or contact Dr. Saxena to learn about the model or discuss collaboration opportunities.
